  1. 01

    Reception

Appointments are arranged in advance by WhatsApp or phone. Walk-ins are not accepted.

Message or call 076 322 9054 to arrange a time. Booking two to three days ahead is recommended for Lenasia, and a little longer for Sunninghill.

Lenasia (Arooha Medical Centre) is the main practice. Dr Patel is in Sunninghill on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Arriving a few minutes early gives you time to settle in before your consultation.

Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule or cancel. Late cancellations may incur a fee.

  2. 02

    Consultation area

Every treatment plan starts with a conversation about your health and goals.

Dr Patel asks about your main concern, your medical history and medication, and your sleep, digestion, stress and lifestyle.

A Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment may include looking at the tongue and feeling the pulse.

She then explains what she proposes and why. Your first visit (consultation and treatment) takes about 60–75 minutes.

This virtual space is for information only. Nothing here assesses or diagnoses you.

  3. 03

    Treatment bay

Acupuncture uses very fine, sterile, single-use needles placed at points chosen for you.

You rest comfortably on the treatment bed, draped for warmth and privacy, while needles stay in place for a period.

Most people feel a brief prick, then a dull ache, tingling or warmth. Many find it relaxing.

Tell Dr Patel if you are pregnant, take blood thinners or have a pacemaker.

The figures in this scene are illustrative and do not depict real staff or patients.

What happens during an acupuncture sessionDr Patel explains how a session works, from choosing points to how it feels.
  4. 04

    Traditional therapies

Alongside acupuncture, Dr Patel offers fire cupping, moxibustion and tuina massage.

Fire cupping: glass cups held on the skin by gentle suction. Temporary circular marks are common.

Moxibustion: gentle warmth from dried mugwort, held near selected points.

Tuina: Chinese therapeutic massage working on muscles and traditional channels.

Which therapy, if any, suits you is decided at your consultation.

  5. 05

    Homeopathy shelves

Homeopathic remedies are selected individually after a detailed consultation.

Dr Patel is a registered homeopath as well as an acupuncturist.

A homeopathic consultation looks at your symptoms in the context of your whole health. Two people with the same complaint may receive different remedies.

The bottles on these shelves are illustrative props. Nothing here is a recommendation for you.

Homeopathy does not replace urgent care or medication your doctor has prescribed.

  6. 06

    Body map station

Explore commonly used acupuncture points on an interactive 360° figure.

The body map shows the traditional names, channels and standard locations of commonly used points.

It is educational only. It is not a diagnostic tool or a guide to self-treatment.
